The Thomas Edison Inn (TEI), in Port Huron, MI, is the site for the proposed Bay Mills Indian Community’s off-reservation casino. If approved this would be the third casino for the Bay Mills Tribe, the first off reservation. Thomas Edison Inn sits in the shadow of the Blue Water International Bridge Crossing near the Blue Water Visitor & Convention Bureau and the Port Huron Museum’s Thomas Edison Depot.
“Thomas Edison Inn” is a d/b/a for Innkeepers Management LLC. William F. Ehinger is the LLC’s manager. Also associated with Innkeepers Management LLC is Donald W. Reynolds. The two bought back ownership control of the Thomas Edison Inn in 1998 from Meritage Hospitality Group Inc.
Here is a list of properties controlled by Innkeepers Management LLC in the vicinity of the Thomas Edison Inn. The City of Port Huron also owns adjacent property.

Regardless who is supporting a casino for Port Huron, the people voted in favor of same and the project should have been in the works long ago. Special interests have delayed this project far too long. Port Huron severely needs the economic boost a casino could provide. In the words of one who plays Port Huron frequently, "Git er Done". The people concerned have spoken; it isw past time to listen.
It's unfortunate the people of Port Huron were lead to believe that because they voted for something (in an advisory capacity no less) that it was a done deal.
It's true that the community must embrace the idea of hosting an Indian casino if one is to ever be approved; but there are so many other requirements/elements and the Bay Mills Indian Community plan promoted by Mr. Malik & company has been flawed from the beginning. Unfortunately there's not likely to be any "Music Man" ending to Professor Malik's song and dance routine.
Such a move has national broader scale implications on Indian Country and there's only opposition to such a plan today.
Instead of pimping for a tribe with a reservation 350 miles from Port Huron, Malik should have found a tribal partner with legitimate historical ties to Port Huron -- perhaps those Tribes weren't buying what he had to sell.
