Captain Bob Guenthardt (Robert G. Guenthardt), former tribal Chairman of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, has over 15 years of experience fishing.
He resigned as chairman of the tribe in 2002, amid a scandal involving the tribe's CFO and another man who had bilked the tribe of half a million dollars.
Today, Guenthardt charters fishing trips on Lake Michigan aboard a CABO 35 Express Luxury Yacht (a $500-$600k boat if purchased new) out of the Riverside Marina in Manistee, Michigan.
Documents filed with the State of Michigan indicate a former Little River Band of Ottawa Indian's Manistee casino partner Michael J. Malik, Sr. is the manager of Renegade Charters LLC. Malik was one of two outsiders, principals in Manistee Gaming LLC, who had bankrolled and originally managed the tribe's casino. An amended casino management contract between the Tribe and Manistee Gaming and approved by the NIGC in 2002 no longer included Malik.
Periodically Guenthardt and his wife Susan M. Guenthardt who live in a modest home in Manistee have written larger checks to elected officials important to Malik and his other casino projects including Richard Pombo, Debbie Stabenow, RICH PAC and the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee.
