Based on figures
published by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) Fourth quarter 2006 revenues for
MotorCity Casino fell $4.5 million (-3.8%) over the previous year despite a larger (25%) expanded gaming floor which opened back in June 2007 and the addition of a 400-room "luxury" hotel which hailed a grand opening in November 2007. MotorCity Casino got a temporary bump during June and July when it touted the grand opening of its "new" casino but in more recent months things have been on a downward slide.
While revenues in October showed a 1% increase over the previous year; revenues in November dropped 3.7 %; and for December revenues fell 8.1% over 2006.
MotorCity Casino's overall revenues for 2007 posted 2.5% higher than 2006 primarily due to temporary revenue increases realized during the two month blip last summer surrounding the grand opening of its "new" casino facilities.
