Fund-raiser offers Tigers, Giuliani
Need a ticket to Monday's Detroit Tigers game against the New York Yankees? You better want this one badly. Then again, you have to be on the invitation list.
Marian Ilitch, who is married to Tigers owner Mike Ilitch, is hosting the fund-raiser at Comerica Park for GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani, an unabashed Yankees fan.
Tickets range from $1,000 to $2,300. For that price, how about the Yankees play Giuliani at third instead of A-Rod?
NOTE: Rep. Candice Miller (R-MI 10th) is chairman of Rudy Giuliani's Michigan presidential campaign committee; and in recent years, Miller has introduced several key bills in Congress to pave the way for Ilitch-backed off-reservation Indian casino proposals. The Ilitch's and their agent Michael Malik have personally contributed more than $88,000 to Rep. Miller although they don't live or work in her district; and helped her raise thousands more. Ilitch spokesman Tom Shields served as chief political consultant for Rep. Miller's re-election campaign.
