Bonfiglio had signed Detroit casino syndicators Michael J. Malik, Sr. and his MJM Enterprises and Development as clients of Williams & Jensen beginning in 2003 to lobby on Indian and Indian gaming matters. Malik paid Bonfiglio’s firm more than $220,000 for services. Malik, and his partners, Detroit's Ilitch Family, contributed or helped raise nearly $100,000 for former Rep. Richard Pombo and his favorite committees while both Malik & Pombo were Bonfiglio clients.
In March 2006, Bonfiglio abruptly quit the Williams & Jensen "superfirm." The lobbyist/PAC treasurer’s departure was sudden, secretive and immediate. At the time the managing partner at Williams & Jensen merely indicated that Barbara Bonfiglio had left the firm to become a "senior compliance officer" at an unnamed Fortune 100 company.
A review of political campaign contribution records at Newsmeat.com indicates beginning about June 1, 2006, Barbara W. Bonfiglio joined Pfizer, Inc. as Senior Corporate Counsel. Bonfiglio has contributed $200 a month to the Pfizer, Inc. PAC most every month beginning June 30, 2006 through May 31, 2007.
