Power outage shuts down MotorCity Casino

Lights out at MotorCity Casino

DETROIT -- MotorCity Casino remained closed about 7:15 a.m. today because of a power problem, according to broadcast media reports.

The casino lost power about 11 p.m. Monday night and its generators kicked in about 3 a.m., according to a WJBK broadcast news report.

Several gamblers told WWJ-950 (AM) they waited hours to get vouchers for their winnings.
It was not clear what caused the outage or when the casino would reopen. Officials with the gaming house were not available for comment this morning.
